Come make amazing art with your littles. We will explore famous artists, explore materials and make beautiful artworks. Lead by Shannon Dickie, as artist educator with 15 years of experience. Throughout the course, you will gain a greater understanding of all the ways you can get creative with the right materials with your kid(s).

Nature Journaling
Join biologist and artist, Stacey Robb, for an evening of creativity and connection with nature.
Come by yourself, bring a friend, bring a neighbour or your kids and grandparents.
We will be creating our own nature journaling kit, and learning about how to ask questions, be observant, and how to use some simple and manageable artistic skills to record your experiences in nature. All materials provided. A great way to make a record of your summer, learn about the crossover of science and art and get outside together this summer!
This multigenerational workshop is open to ages 8 and up. Come by yourself, bring a friend, bring a neighbour or your kids and grandparents.No experience required.

Explore Linocut Printmaking Techniques
Join artist Lisa Leskien as she leads you through the Linocut printmaking process.
No printmaking experience necessary
Suitable for ages 12+.
You will be guided through the steps from creating and transferring an image onto the blocks, techniques for carving, techniques for printmaking in various colours like reductions and puzzle techniques, inking the block, registering the prints, hand-printing, and signing and numbering the prints.
The $125 price includes all materials and step-by-step instructions to carve 2 blocks, and make a limited edition print run of 15 on paper, 6 cards (with envalopes), a notebook, and a canvas tote/pouch.
We will be using water-based printing ink (that can stain clothing). It may get messy. Please wear clothes that you are OK getting ink on. We are solvent-free (no smelly cleaners here!). Please arrive 5 minutes early. Exploring Linocut Printmaking workshop registrations must be paid in advance - ticket sales end on Friday May 24, 2024.

Windswept Pine Painting Worshop
Windswept Pine Tree Painting workshop at the Hive in Bath! Join local artist Lisa Leskien to create a bright and colourful stylized pine tree painting.
All abilities welcome. No painting experience necessary. You will be guided through the steps from transferring the image, mixing and layering colours, to painting your own beautiful pine tree painting. All supplies needed to paint a 4x12 inch acrylic paintings on gallery-deep canvas are included in the $49 registration fee.
We will be using acrylic paint. It may get messy. Please wear clothes that you are OK getting paint on.

Dreamy Chalk Pastel Skies
Practicing Artist, Shannon Dickie, will guide you through creating a dreamy Chalk Pastel Sunset. Through this workshop, you will gain a greater understanding of colour matching and techniques for using the medium of chalk pastels. Participants will leave with an artwork on 12x16 or 12x12 with a lovely white border.

Introduction to Wildlife Photography 3 Day Course
Duncan will share his tips and tricks for photographing in the field over three Sunday afternoons in June including a hands on Class out in the field. You may bring your own camera, camera phone or use one of the class provided cameras.

Students will meet at The Hive and then will continue onto a second location for In Field experience

Inspired by the Australian artist Pete Cromer, we will be creating painted paper collages of animals. Learn about capturing shapes to cut out and create painted paper in this lovely workshop to create with friends and family hosted by Artist and Arts Educator, Shannon Dickie

Kids Class: Sail Boats in Perspective
Participants will use watercolours and sharpie to create a beautiful artwork on mix media paper lead by arts educator Shannon Dickie. The view of Lake Ontario leads to beautiful scenes of boats on water. We will use this example of here, near, far perspective.
